Papel Copilot, in early access

An in-app assistant that answers from your own documentation.

Papel Copilot is built on Anthropic's Claude. It reads your help center and product docs, answers your users with citations, and hands the conversation to your support team when it isn't sure.

Use cases

The jobs Papel Copilot is designed to do, and the teams it suits best.

  • In-app help for a SaaS product

Users ask how to do something without leaving the screen they're on, and get an answer with a link to the exact help article.

  • First-line support with a clean handoff

Copilot answers the questions your docs already cover and passes the rest to Zendesk, Intercom or Freshdesk with the transcript attached.

  • Onboarding guide during a trial

New users get setup questions answered at the moment they're stuck, from the same guides your onboarding emails link to.

  • Internal assistant for support and sales staff

Your own team asks about policies, plan details and troubleshooting steps, with answers cited from your internal knowledge base.

What Papel Copilot does

Answers grounded in your content

Citations on every answer

Each reply links to the help article or doc section it came from, so users and your team can check the source.

Syncs your help center

Connect a help center, a docs site or upload files. Changes are re-indexed on a schedule you set.

Says when it doesn't know

If your content doesn't cover a question, Copilot says so instead of guessing, and offers to reach a person.

Support handoff and actions

Human handoff

Escalate to Zendesk, Intercom or Freshdesk with the full transcript attached, so agents don't ask users to repeat themselves.

Tool calls into your APIs

On the Business plan, Copilot can call endpoints you define, such as order status or plan changes, with scoped credentials.

Handoff rules

Route to a person on keywords, low confidence, repeated questions or when the user asks for one.

Runs where your users are

Web widget

One script tag adds the assistant to any web app. Match your brand colors, launcher position and greeting.

iOS and Android SDKs

Native SDKs for Swift and Kotlin, plus a React Native wrapper, with signed user identity for logged-in sessions.

Conversation analytics

See the top questions, unanswered topics, handoff rate and which articles get cited most, so you know what to write next.

Controls for admins

Topics to avoid

List subjects the assistant should decline, such as legal advice or competitor comparisons, with a reply you write.

Tone and instructions

Set the voice, answer length and standing instructions in plain language. Preview changes before they go live.

Roles and review

Give teammates admin or read-only access, and review flagged conversations from one queue.

Live demo

Ask our own Copilot a question.

This assistant runs on Papel Copilot and answers only from our pricing page and policies. Ask about plans, billing, refunds or code ownership and check the sources it cites.

Messages you send here are processed by Anthropic's Claude to generate a reply. Please don't enter personal or confidential information.

How it works

  1. 01

    Connect your content

Point Copilot at your help center or docs site, or upload PDFs and Markdown. We index the content into a private knowledge base for your workspace.

  2. 02

    Set rules and tone

Write instructions, topics to avoid and handoff rules. Test questions in the admin preview and see which sources each answer used.

  3. 03

    Embed the assistant

Add the web widget script or the mobile SDK. Pass a signed user token if you want Copilot to know who is asking.

  4. 04

    Answer, cite or hand off

For each question, Copilot retrieves the relevant passages, Claude writes an answer from them with citations, and low-confidence cases go to your help desk.

  5. 05

    Improve from analytics

Review unanswered questions and handoffs each week, fill the gaps in your docs, and the next sync picks them up.

Architecture overview

How a question travels from your user to an answer. Content is indexed ahead of time; only the passages relevant to each question are sent to the model.

  1. Step 1: Your content

    • Help center and docs

Public or authenticated pages, crawled on a schedule you set.

    • Uploaded files

PDF, Markdown, HTML and plain text.

  2. Step 2: Papel Copilot workspace

    • Private index

Your content split into passages and indexed for retrieval, isolated per workspace.

    • Rules and handoff logic

Instructions, topics to avoid and when to route to a person.

    • Conversation log

Transcripts kept for the retention period you choose.

  3. Step 3: Model

    • Anthropic's Claude

Called through Anthropic's commercial API. Writes the answer from the retrieved passages and cites them.

  4. Step 4: Where answers go

    • Your app

Web widget or iOS, Android and React Native SDKs.

    • Your help desk

      Ticket with transcript on handoff.

    • Your APIs

Scoped tool calls, Business plan only.

API keys for your tools are stored encrypted and are never shown to the model.

Signed user tokens let Copilot know who is asking without your app sharing passwords or sessions.

Disconnecting a source removes its content from the index.

Admin and controls

What the people who own Papel Copilot in your company can configure, review and restrict.

Topics to avoid and handoff rules
Decline subjects such as legal advice with a reply you write, and route to a person on keywords or low confidence.
Source management
Set the sync schedule, exclude pages or folders, and trigger a re-index after a big documentation update.
Transcript retention
Keep transcripts for 0 to 365 days, and delete a specific user's conversations on request.
Review queue
Conversations with poor ratings, handoffs or low confidence collected in one place for weekly review.

Security and data

  • No training on your data

Copilot calls Claude through Anthropic's commercial API. Under Anthropic's commercial terms, API inputs and outputs are not used to train their models.

  • Retention you control

Choose how long transcripts are kept, from 0 to 365 days, or delete them on request. Knowledge base content is removed when you disconnect a source.

  • Isolated per workspace

Each workspace has its own knowledge base. Content from one customer is never used to answer another customer's users.

  • Encryption

Data is encrypted in transit with TLS and at rest on AWS. API keys for your tools are stored encrypted and never shown to the model.

Fair use

  • A conversation is one session between a user and the assistant, however many messages it has. A session closes after 30 minutes of inactivity.
  • During early access we don't charge overage fees. If usage regularly runs above your plan, we'll contact you to talk about moving up rather than cutting your users off mid-month.
  • Automated or scripted traffic, such as load tests, needs our agreement first, so it doesn't count against your plan or affect other customers.
  • Use of the assistant is subject to our Acceptable Use Policy and Anthropic's usage policies.

See also our Acceptable Use Policy and Service Level Agreement.

Roadmap during early access

Work we plan or are exploring, in no particular order. We don't promise dates: priorities follow what early-access customers ask for, and plans can change.

  • Planned

    More help desk integrations

Handoff to additional help desks beyond Zendesk, Intercom and Freshdesk, prioritized by what early-access customers use.

  • Planned

    Weekly quality digest

An email summary of unanswered topics, low-confidence answers and the articles most worth improving.

  • Planned

    Language settings

Explicit controls for which languages the assistant answers in, and how it handles questions asked in other languages.

  • Planned

    Self-serve onboarding

Connecting sources and embedding the widget without a setup call. Today we set up each workspace with you.

  • Exploring

Slack and Microsoft Teams for internal assistants

Asking an internal knowledge assistant from the chat tool your staff already use.

Questions about Papel Copilot

Which model does Papel Copilot use?

Copilot is built on Anthropic's Claude, accessed through Anthropic's commercial API. We choose the model version for each task and test changes against a set of sample questions before rolling them out.

Will Copilot make things up?

It's instructed to answer only from your content and to cite it. When retrieval finds nothing relevant, it says it doesn't know and offers a handoff. No assistant is perfect, so conversation review and analytics help you catch weak answers.

Is our data used to train AI models?

No. Under Anthropic's commercial terms, inputs sent through the API are not used for model training, and we don't use your content to train anything either.

What counts as a conversation?

A conversation is one session between a user and the assistant, however many messages it has. A session closes after 30 minutes of inactivity.

Can I try it before joining?

Yes. The assistant on this page is a working Copilot that answers from our own pricing and policies.

How does setup work during early access?

We set up your workspace with you on a call: connecting sources, writing the first instructions and handoff rules, and testing real questions in the preview. Billing starts when the assistant is live in your app.

Can Copilot answer questions about a specific user's account?

Only on the Business plan, through tool calls into APIs you define, with the user's identity passed as a signed token and each tool limited to the data it needs.

Which languages can users ask in?

Claude handles many languages, so users can usually ask in their own. Answers come from your content, so quality is best in the languages your documentation is written in.
